Compare Your Health Plan Options Carefully

Open Enrollment is a great time to review your current health plan coverage—medical, dental and vision—and decide what coverage fits you best for 2025. Have your healthcare needs or financial situation changed? Be sure you know all your options.

Your health plan options include:

  • Three medical plans (PPO, HDHP 1, HDHP 2)
  • HDHP 1 and HDHP 2 are High Deductible Health Plans (HDHPs). Each can be paired with a health savings account (HSA). The HSA is funded with tax-free company contributions ($600 Individual/$1,200 Family for 2025). You can make tax-free contributions too, up to the annual limit.
  • Three dental plans through Delta Dental (PPO Choice Advantage, PPO Basic and PPO Premier)
  • Two vision plans through VSP Choice Network (Basic Plan and Enhanced Plan)

Medical Plan Comparison

All three medical plans:

  • Have a biweekly premium deduction from your paycheck to give you coverage.
  • Offer coverage for the same services and prescription drugs.
  • Pay 100% of eligible preventive care if from OUH Custom Network or BCBS In-Network providers/facilities (even if you have not yet met the annual deductible).
  • Save you the most money when you receive care from providers/facilities in the OUH Custom Network and get your prescriptions filled at an OU Health pharmacy.
  • Protect you with an annual out-of-pocket maximum.
  • Can be paired with eligible tax-advantaged account(s) to help you pay for qualified healthcare expenses.

However, the premiums, coverage levels and eligible tax-advantaged account(s) are different for each plan. These charts help you compare the features and costs of all three medical plans. Be sure to check out the significant savings when you use the OUH Custom Network.

The OUH Custom Network includes OU Health facilities and providers plus selected community partners such as Norman Regional. Login to your account at bcbsok.com to find all providers/facilities in the OUH Custom Network.

How Do You Choose?

The right medical, dental and vision plan choices depend on your personal situation: your budget and how much/what kinds of care and prescriptions you (and any eligible family members) expect to need.

For help with your medical plan choice, the Flimp Decisions tool makes it easy for you:

  • Answer four simple multiple-choice questions and instantly see which plan is likely to offer the highest value for healthcare services you expect to need.
  • Click a few more times to see your estimated annual costs and how you could make the most of a tax-advantaged account (FSA and/or HSA) with each plan option.

To get the most from Flimp Decisions:

It’s a good idea to run at least three scenarios:

  • Realistic Case: your best guess at what care and prescriptions you expect to need next year
  • Best Case: What you would need if you and your family stay healthy next year
  • Worst Case: You “max out” and exceed your out-of-pocket maximum
