Benefits Overview

Welcome to OU Health! Together, we can improve the health of all Oklahomans. OU Health’s Total Rewards package is designed to help us all achieve the work-life harmony we seek in both our careers and personal lives. Alongside our commitment to fostering a culture of belonging, development, innovation and excellence, Total Rewards are the cornerstone of making OU Health Oklahoma’s Employer of Choice.

Eligible new hires can elect coverage in the following “core” and “voluntary” benefits on date of hire; there is no waiting period. But to receive coverage for yourself and any of your eligible dependents, you must enroll by 5 p.m. CT on the 30th day following your hire date. Coverage will be effective as of your hire date.

Core Benefits

You must enroll during your new-hire enrollment period to receive coverage in:

  • Health: medical, dental and/or vision
  • Flexible spending accounts (FSAs): healthcare, limited purpose and/or dependent care
  • Health savings account (HSA): available if you enroll in medical plan HDHP 1 or HDHP 2
  • Supplemental insurance: accidental death & dismemberment insurance, additional employee, spouse and/or child life insurance, and long-term disability insurance*

*Part-time employees are not eligible to purchase long-term disability (LTD) insurance. Executives automatically receive company-paid LTD coverage equal to 66-2⁄3% of base annual salary (subject to applicable monthly maximum monthly benefit).

Voluntary Benefits

You must enroll during your new-hire enrollment period to receive coverage in:

  • Critical illness, hospital indemnity and/or accident insurance
  • Legal services plan

You can enroll now or at any time during the year in:

  • Auto and/or home insurance
  • Pet insurance
  • Identity theft protection

Other Benefits that Begin on Your Hire Date

Basic Life Insurance
  • Eligible new hires are automatically enrolled in basic life insurance, which is fully paid by OU Health.
  • Be sure to name your beneficiary (or beneficiaries) for your life insurance. You can do that on Workday at any time. It’s best to take care of this during your new-hire enrollment.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • The EAP is a confidential counseling and referral service that offers personal and financial coaching services for you and your family. These services can help you deal with a wide variety of life’s challenges that could affect your health, relationships and/or job effectiveness.
  • EAP services are provided through CuraLinc Healthcare at no cost to you.
401(k) Plan
  • Eligible new hires are automatically enrolled in our 401(k) plan after 30 days of employment, at a contribution rate of 3% of your eligible pay (base salary). You can opt out or change the contribution rate; just login to Fidelity NetBenefits.
  • You can contribute a percentage of your eligible pay, up to annual IRS limits which are subject to change each year. (Allow about seven to 10 days from your hire date for your data to be available in NetBenefits.)
  • OU Health matches your before-tax and/or Roth after-tax contributions. The company matches 100% of your contribution, up to 6% of your eligible pay. Contribute what you can so you don’t leave free money on the table.
  • You can increase, decrease or stop contributions at any time; just login to NetBenefits. Your change will take one to two payroll cycles to go into effect, depending on when you submit the change.
  • The 401(k) plan offers a convenient Annual Increase Program (AIP). If you enroll in the AIP, your 401(k) contribution rate will automatically increase by 1% each January until you reach the maximum contribution rate.
  • Be sure to login to NetBenefits to make your beneficiary designation(s).
457 Plans
  • OU Health offers a 457(b) plan for employees who earn more than the annual Social Security Wage Base ($176,100 in 2025); and 457(f) plans for Physicians and executives. These plans offer eligible employees ways to save additional money for retirement.
  • Login to Fidelity NetBenefits to see if you are eligible and enroll.

You’re eligible for benefit coverage on your hire date if you are…

  • A full-time employee who works at least 30 hours per week.
  • A part-time employee who works at least 16 hours per week (.4 FTE).
  • An eligible employee’s dependent spouse or dependent child younger than age 26, or a dependent child of any age who is disabled and meets plan criteria.*

*All dependents must be verified before their coverage can take effect. You will need to provide each dependent’s name, birthdate, gender and Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number during enrollment. To cover your spouse, you will also need to provide a photocopy of your marriage certificate. For each child you want to cover, you must provide a photocopy of a state-issued birth certificate, adoption certificate or court assignment of guardianship. If the child is your step-child, you must also provide a photocopy of your marriage certificate. Submit your verification documents to OURewards@onesourcevirtual.com.

Note: PRNs are eligible to participate in the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and contribute to the 401(k).

If you miss the 30-day deadline…

  • You will need to wait until the next annual benefits Open Enrollment period to elect coverage for 2026.
  • If you have a mid-year “qualifying life event” you may be eligible to change, add and/or cancel your elections. Qualifying life events include marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, or a change in your or your spouse’s employment status that affects your benefits eligibility. See Mid-Year Election Changes for more details.
